Three major deals have been announced for The Chimes shopping centre in Uxbridge.
Hollywood Bowl is to take the whole 38,000 sq ft upper floor of the former Debenhams store, while TK Maxx has taken 25,000 sq ft on the lower floor, relocating from its store in The Pavilions, and River Island is to expand its presence to 9,000 sq ft over two floors. Colliers and Lunson Mitchenall acted for owner abrdn.
Hollywood Bowl expects to open its bowling and mini-golf venue later in the year, TK Maxx will open in October and River Island expects to be operating from its new store in March.
In addition, Odeon is refurbishing its nine-screen cinema into a state-of-the-art Odeon Luxe.
Niall Macdonald, deputy fund manager from abrdn, said: “The Chimes is already the prime destination for shopping in Uxbridge and the surrounding area. The refurbishment of the cinema to the Luxe format and the addition of Hollywood Bowl’s venue secures it as the number one leisure and shopping destination for the catchment, where people can shop and socialise. The arrival of TK Maxx later in the year and the new River Island store opening in March will strengthen the fashion offer alongside Next, H&M and New Look.”
Dave Williams, operations director at Hollywood Bowl, said: “This is an exciting time for the team at Hollywood Bowl as we bring 22 new bowling lanes and a nine-hole mini golf course to The Chimes. Hollywood Bowl has built a strong reputation for bringing affordable family experiences to locations across the UK and we are looking forward to welcoming the first bowlers and putters to Uxbridge towards the end of this year.”
Dan Simms, co-head of UK Retail Agency at Colliers, said: “This exciting news for The Chimes shows that there’s a real confidence in the centre as both a leisure and retail destination. These significant new lettings will provide a real mix of uses to broaden the retail and leisure provision here, which will continue to attract a wide variety of customers to the centre.
“We currently have several other units under offer, so expect to make more exciting announcements shortly.”
