An industrial scheme is planned for a site in South Reading which already has consent for homes.
A scheme by Ultima Properties to convert two two-storey office buildings called Bennet Court in Bennet Road to 49 flats was approved in 2021.
But now a new application to demolish the current building in favour of an industrial scheme has been submitted to Reading Borough Council by DV5 Coltham (Reading).
The application is for a new building of 4,308 sq m with use classes E(g)(iii) (industrial processes), B2 (general industrial) and B8 (storage and distribution). There will also be 646 sq m of ancillary office space. The area is largely made up of industrial buildings.
The new building will seek to be a minimum BREEAM Excellent but will aim for Outstanding.
The team on the project includes BHP Design on architecture and Barton Willmore (now Stantec) on planning.
