Interested parties have until Monday, April 15 to make representations in the case of Aldi’s plans to build a store at Winnersh.

Wokingham Borough Council’s planning committee voted to approve the scheme for a supermarket at Gazelle Close off Reading Road in December. However, the Secretary of State last month called in the proposals under Section 77 of the Town and Country Planning Act and the application will now be decided by an inquiry.

Flooding is known to affect land in parts of that area.

The 10,124 sq m store, which will have 124 parking spaces, is planned for a one-hectare site next to Winnersh Fields Business Park and close to retailers Wickes, Pets at Home and Halfords. The site already has permission for a vehicle repair and sales development.

Representations can be made under what is called Rule 6 status which allows groups, organisations or interested individuals to take part.
