Two new food and beverage brands with strong local connections have signed up for the new look Friars Walk in Reading, part of Lincoln MGT’s Station Hill development.
Italian restaurant Angelos and 1650 Coffee Co will open later this year facing onto the new public realm which was unveiled in February.
Angelos has signed a 15-year lease for a 1,069 sq ft ground floor unit. It will be a casual café in the morning and an á la carte restaurant in the evening with an extensive wine list.
The brand emanates from the successful Ruchetta restaurant in Wokingham, owned by Angelos Colao.
At the same time 1650 Coffee Co, a new brand from the owners of the student favourite Café Yolk in Erleigh Road, has taken a unit close to Siren Craft Brew in the Ebb&Flow development and will have an additional entrance in Ebb’s reception.
Evan Reynolds, development director at Lincoln Property Company UK, part of the Lincoln MGT joint venture, said: “Angelos and 1650 Coffee Co perfectly embody the vibrant, high-quality offering we are bringing to Station Hill.
“Their arrival underscores our commitment to delivering a best-in-class destination in the heart of Reading.
“We look forward to seeing those living and working in the area, as well as visitors to the town, explore these new eateries which are set to open later this year.
“With Phases 1 and 2 of Station Hill now complete and an exciting events strategy in place for 2025 across the estate, occupier interest is stronger than ever. We are hoping to be able to share further tenant updates soon.”
The deals come six months after two other food and beverage operators agreed deals at Station Hill.
London-based coffee chain Notes signed a 10-year lease on the ground floor at ONE Station Hill, its first venture outside the capital, while Japanese restaurant Kawaii signed a 15-year lease in one of the restaurant units in the same building.
