Wandsworth Council Planning Department has unanimously approved a new intensive therapy unit attached to the Atkinson Morley Wing of St George’s University Hospital Tooting.

The new wing will occupy what was once parking and feature a modular 20-bed unit.

St George’s University Hospital is one of London’s major trauma centres and the leading acute hospital serving Southwest London, with an extended catchment population of about 3.5 million. The Trust has established a reputation in emergency care, cardiology, stroke, neurology and renal services. In intensive care, its expertise includes cardiothoracic, neuroscience and paediatrics specialist units.

The Trust’s vision for the estate is to “develop and maintain an efficient, high quality, sustainable and flexible estate which meets the operational demands and objectives of the Trust and the wider South West London healthcare system and promotes long-term collaboration with our health and education partners

Their vision is to provide outstanding care, every time, for patients, staff and the communities they serve.

The architect is Floyd Slaski.
