Savills has appointed John Gale as senior planner in its planning consultancy team in Oxford.
Mr Gale, who has a master’s degree in Spatial Planning from Oxford Brookes, joins from Cherwell District Council (CDC) where he has been a planning officer since 2017.
His caseload ranged from industrial sheds and housing to Grade II*-listed buildings and he was recently involved in the project to develop the UK’s first eco town in Bicester, which will ultimately deliver up to 6,000 zero carbon homes.
He said: “I am really pleased to have joined such a dynamic team and look forward to using my local knowledge alongside the varied experience I gained in the public sector to further strengthen it.”
He joins the team of 14 planning experts in Savills Oxford office which, together with its 11-strong team in Reading, operates across the Oxford-Cambridge Arc and the Thames Valley. The Oxford team won Best Planning Consultancy at the OxPropFest Awards 2021.
Rob Linnell, head of the Savills planning team in Oxford, said: “I am delighted to welcome John to the team. He comes armed with a diverse range of experience in development management, bolstering our expertise in planning for commercial, residential and mixed-use development within the strategically important Oxford-Cambridge Arc.”
