Trebor Developments has exchanged contracts with DHL UK Ltd on a long-term lease for 126,689 sq ft at Lightning Park, Huntingdon.
The pre-let follows Trebor securing detailed planning consent for two units on the scheme in December 2022, whilst a subsequent nonmaterial amendment has been agreed to incorporate several bespoke DHL design elements.
It is the third deal that Trebor and DHL have agreed together in 24 months.
Lightning Park comprises 10 acres of commercial development land that Trebor acquired from St John’s College in 2021.
DHL’s unit was originally intended for speculative development prior to discussions but will now be delivered alongside a smaller speculative unit of 32,200 sq ft.
GMI Construction has been selected as main contractor and will start on-site with both units this spring, targeting practical completion before the end 2023.
Greg Dalton, development director for Trebor said: “We’re delighted to hit three major milestones for the delivery of this site in securing planning, appointing a contractor, and agreeing terms with a fantastic occupier. We’ve worked closely with the occupier and it’s a testament to our delivery team to get to this stage against the backdrop of uncertainty throughout the second half of 2022, and we look forward to delivering the unit in 2023”.
Patrick Stanton, head of Bidwells logistics & industrial team said: “This agreement ends a long-standing requirement for a new DHL facility within the area. Our excellent relationships with both Trebor and DHL enabled a smooth transaction and allowed us to deliver a fantastic result for both parties. Large scale sites are at a premium and there was serious competition for this building. We already have good interest for the speculative 32,200 sq ft unit”.
Lightning Park Huntingdon is being jointly marketed by Bidwells and Savills.
