A second public event on the future plans for Didcot has been arranged for next month.
More than 100 people attended the first gathering of those shaping the town’s future in September and now South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC) and its partner organisations working on the Didcot Garden Town programme are coming together for a second event focussing on connectivity and infrastructure.
As well as key developers and SODC, Vale of White Horse district council, Oxfordshire County Council and Didcot Town Council will be represented.
Projects and subjects visitors can expect to learn about include:
- New bridges over the railway line and River Thames between Didcot and Culham.
- The Science Vale Movement and Place plan.
- A new housing scheme at Broadway
- Work on the A4130 Steventon Lights
- Public art both at Edmonds Park and at Didcot Garden Town
- Valley Park
- Local Government Reorganisation
- Community grants and business support
Cllr Anne-Marie Simpson, South Oxfordshire District Council cabinet member for planning policy and garden communities, said: “We had around 100 people attend in September, and I hope even more will take the opportunity to visit this time around.
“These projects will make a real difference in Didcot and its surrounding areas, and the event is a great opportunity for local residents to engage, have their voices heard and keep up to date with the progress being made.”
The free event is on Wednesday, March 18 at Cornerstone Arts Centre from 5pm – 7.30pm.
