Linford Wood Place is undergoing refurbishment, it will be a centre for residents with complex disabilities. The council are investing £13 million , £4 million of which is coming from housing developers.
Plans for the building involve accommodation, care facilities, specialist equipment and recreational spaces for residents, eventually the 1.7 acre site will be able to support up to 59 adults each weekday. The Council is investing to replace their outdated facilities and it is collaborating with users of their current services and their families, in order to improve operations when Linford Wood Place is ready.
Refurbishment
As of February the internal walls and partitions are complete, and work has begun on installing brand-new glazing throughout the building, the Council intends to spend the next three months working with families so the buildings colour scheme, courtyard landscaping, furniture and specialised equipment can be finalised.
Councillors comments
Councillor Donna Fuller, Cabinet Member for Adults, Health and Communities said, “We want this centre to feel uplifting, dignified and truly shaped around the needs of the people who use it.” Cllr. Fuller has been involved with the project since October.
