Griggs Homes has handed over a set of affordable homes at the Stables development in Borehamwood.
The occasion was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by members of the Griggs & Watford Community Housing teams as well as local councillors, the Hertsmere housing team and the managing director for Hertsmere Borough Council.
The Stables is situated in Cowley Hill, Borehamwood and is a collection of family homes and apartments that have been designed to merge the traditional forms of a chic countryside property with a contemporary specification.
Six of the 16 homes were sold to Watford Community Housing and have been designated as affordable homes, these include a mix of shared ownership and affordable rent units.
Mark Johnson, sales and marketing director at Griggs Homes said: “We are committed to providing high quality affordable homes for the residents of Hertsmere. This is our second development with Watford Community Housing in the last year.
“We worked closely together on The Grain Yard, another development of ours in Borehamwood. The lack of affordable housing in the borough isn’t going to be solved overnight but we are happy to play our part in increasing its supply.
“Looking ahead, we are currently under construction with a site in Bentley Heath which will provide a further six affordable homes.”
Tina Barnard, chief executive at Watford for Community Housing, said: ”We’re thrilled to be able to offer these homes for shared ownership and affordable rent, through another successful partnership with Griggs Homes.
“We all know how challenging it is for people looking to buy on the open market or find affordable homes to rent, so these will give local people invaluable opportunities to get on the housing ladder and live in a high-quality home at a more manageable price.”
