Construction work is set to begin imminently on new hi-spec fitted lab space in Cambridge.
Longfellow Real Estate Partners has signed a fixed-price contract with Wates to regenerate its CamLIFE campus.
Fitted labs, curated amenities and expansive green space will be created at the 42-acre park with the first of the new accommodation – Cam 3 – due to be delivered in mid-2025.
Cam 1 and 2 will follow shortly after.
Adam Sichol, chief executive of Longfellow Real Estate Partners, said: “Longfellow will deliver the same high quality and sustainable fitted lab space that we have across our 16 million square foot portfolio.”
“At CamLIFE, our team is creating the next generation of developments to meet the demands of the United Kingdom’s innovation economy and support its future growth.”
The first phase is targeting BREEAM Excellent and EPC A. Re-use of buildings in the design will mean a 40 per cent whole-life embodied carbon reduction relative to a new-build net-zero equivalent.
Tom French, UK lead and development director for Longfellow, said: “The signing of this contract signals a significant milestone for Longfellow UK and further strengthens our commitment to the UK life science market.
“This initial phase will be the foundation of what we hope will be a more extensive, broader vision for the campus.”
