Churchgate has applied to demolish a care home in Woking and build another.
Churchgate Woking, a trading arm of Boutique Care Homes, has applied to Woking Borough Council to replace a former care home called The Meadows in Bagshot Road, Knaphill, which closed in 2013 and was acquired by the applicant in 2017, with a new 74-bed home.
The proposed scheme for a three and four-storey building is a variation of a previously approved application for an extra care home. Churchgate has been unable to find a buyer for that proposal and is exploring options.
The 0.48-hectare site, which is within the Green Belt, has been subjected to extensive vandalism, arson and fly-tipping and the developer is keen to start work on redevelopment.
The team on the project includes RM Design Group on architecture, Freeths on planning, EcoSystems on ecology, PJC Consulting on arboriculture and Paul Mew Associates on transport.
