Tech giant Oracle may leave Thames Valley Park for another site in Reading in a move that could add to the major redevelopment schemes at the riverside business complex.

CoStar News has reported Oracle is seeking to leave its 24-acre site where it has consolidated into just one of its initial four buildings, and is looking for between 40,000 sq ft and 60,000 sq ft either in Reading town centre or out of town.

Of its remaining three TVP buildings, two are empty and one is multi-let. Occupiers include BBC Radio Berkshire which has studios there.

But the Royal Berkshire Hospital has long seen TVP as a viable site for its relocation and has been in discussion with Oracle. The Royal Berkshire NHS Trust is weeks away from completing its site selection as part of the business case for the proposed move.

However, the Government has pushed back the timing so any building work in unlikely before 2037.

A spokesperson for the trust said: “The trust has been given funding by the New Hospitals Programme to support us in progressing land searches and site selection work. This work is expected to be completed by March 2026 with a decision-making business case submitted to the trust board.”

Swiss pharmaceutical giant Lonza, which acquired the former British Gas site at TVP, is working on plans for its new campus of between 400,000 sq ft and 450,000 sq ft on that.

And in September 2024 Permitted Development consent was granted by Wokingham Borough Council to convert the Regus building at 400 Thames Valley Park Drive to 62 flats although plans for 32 more, built on top, were refused.
