The following was written by Henry Revill, committee member of OxProp NextGen and development surveyor at Jansons Property.

The first OxProp NextGen CPD event of 2023 was hosted at Swailes SuperLab, Oxford and was attended by over 80 young professionals, showing the significant popularity of ‘in person’ CPD events.

Tours of the purpose-built lab by the Swailes team and networking kicked off the event, with several insightful presentations following.

The main CPD topic of the day was ‘science and tech in property’ and was presented by Jan Losch and Rupert Dando from Savills’ science team.

Following their presentations, attendees came away with an enhanced knowledge and interest of the topic, so this was hugely valuable to everyone.

It will be interesting to see how the life science market in ‘The Golden Triangle’ performs over the next few years and we are sure that many of the attendees will be at the forefront of it!

A big thanks to Freeths who sponsored the event and to Robin Swailes and his team at Robin Swailes Design & Development for hosting, sponsoring and showcasing the SuperLab throughout the afternoon.

Liv Thomas, founder and chairman of OxProp NextGen and graduate surveyor at Savills said: “This was an extremely valuable afternoon for young property professionals in the Oxford market. With over 80 attendees, it showed the significant popularity of CPD events hosted ‘in-person’. The topic surrounded Science and Tech in Property, a market that will be influenced in years to come by many that attended the event. We have further CPD and social events planned throughout the year and hope to see everyone who attended again soon!”

Jan Losch, associate director at Savills said: “Lovely to have the opportunity to inspire the NextGen with this great initiative in partnership with Savills. The sold-out event demonstrates what an exciting market Oxford is currently is especially for the next generation of property professionals.”

Matthew Battle, managing director of UK Property Forums said: “It was great to be able to be involved in and support this event with the OxProp NextGen group. It is really exciting to see a CPD-led event in Oxford rather than London or Reading.  I hope that we can repeat in the near future.”

Tickets have been released for our next three events, including a quiz and curry night at Bee House, Milton Park on Thursday, May 18. The event can be booked here. Other events can be found on the OxProp NextGen Eventbrite page.

Look forward to seeing everyone again soon!
