Babergh District Council’s Planning Committee have approved the next phase at Junction 56 of the A14 near Wherstead in which Pigeon will deliver two B8 warehouses.

The new 228,000 sq ft development will be BREEAM Very Good and have electric minibuses to link Ipswich with Port One. Pigeon’s recent highways upgrade will also benefit the site.

Hugh French, director of development at Pigeon, said: “Working with our joint venture partners Curzon De Vere Ltd, these proposals reflect updated requirements and will support long-term growth and investment in the District. The proposals will build on the recently completed junction improvement works and roadside service area.”

Pigeon estimates 120 new jobs will be created as a result of the scheme’s approval. The development will complement the new Starbucks drive-thru and Euro Garage’s new roadside services which opened last year.

Pigeon’s consultants included JTS Partnership LLP (planning), Richard Jackson Ltd (drainage), Liz Lake Associates (landscape), Transport Planning Associates (highways) and DCS Ecology.

Coke Gearing and Gilbert Bath have been instructed as agents.
