A planning committee meeting in Guildford ended in just over a minute after no-one offered to chair it.
Members of Guildford Borough Council’s planning committee gathered for its February 1 meeting where both chairman Cllr Fiona White and vice-chairman Cllr Colin Cross absent due to illness.
Democratic services and elections manager John Armstrong (pictured) sat in the chairman’s place and asked for nominations for a chairman to be elected.
No-one offered, leaving Mr Armstrong to declare: “We are in the very unfortunate position of having no other option but to adjourn the meeting to a later date.”
Items on the agenda for the meeting had included a reserved matters application for 93 homes in Ash and a retrospective application for a Gypsy/traveller site in Seale.
