Work is set to start in the Autumn on a document which will help shape the East Herts Council district plan update.

The council had delayed work on its vision, originally intended for September, so it could account for planning reforms.

Now the authority has said it wants to be fully ready to move forward with the vision as soon as the new planning rules are confirmed.

Cllr Vicky Glover-Ward, executive member for planning and growth at East Herts Council, said: “We were eager to meet and engage with our communities throughout September to discuss the future vision for planning in East Herts.

“However, we recognised that moving ahead before the new system is in place could mean repeating this work later, which wouldn’t be a good use of public resources.

“The good news is that we’re ready to hit the ground running immediately the changes are introduced, so we can begin this vital step in creating a new district plan.

No date has been set for the Government’s new system of planning.
