Richborough Estates is consulting on plans for up to 95 homes at Royal Wootton Bassett.

The scheme is earmarked for a 7.5-hectare site west of Marlborough Road, to the south of the Templars Way Industrial Estate. It is currently made up of irregularly-shaped agricultural fields.

The developer says the southern part of the site will be devoted to biodiversity enhancement to achieve biodiversity net gain across the site. It is not within the Green Belt or AONB.

Up to 40 per cent affordable homes are proposed along with space for allotments, play areas and public open space.

However, the site is close to the Royal Wootton Bassett Sewage Treatment Works and an odour assessment has been carried out. Richborough says the risk of odour is low, and no specific mitigation measures are needed.

The housebuilder plans to submit a planning application to Wiltshire Council by the end of August.

Comments during the current consultation should be made by August 16. Visit https://www.richborough.co.uk/project/royal-wootton-bassett-2/
