The first in a new series of UKPF property podcasts is now available. UKPF managing director Matthew Battle and editor-in-chief Alan Bunce will be questioning a variety of figures in the property world, from both public and private sector as well as elected members at local authorities under our podcast brand Battle & Bunce.
Mike Shearn, chief operating officer for Haslams Estate Agents in Reading was our first guest on the subject of Build-to-Rent (BTR) housing which is growing at pace throughout many cities in the UK.
Haslams has got fully behind the concept in a town where there’s a BTR pipeline of 4,000 properties. Haslams recently helped let all 252 units in the latest scheme on their books, Domain, in just six months, beating all projections.
On behalf of Haslams, Mr Shearn also spearheads Mosaic Living, a team of expert consultants who can advise on BTR.
He says people compare the BTR phenomenon to hotel living but he sees it more like life on a cruise ship. But what who are the renters? What are the rents they pay? And where is the market going?
