Polestar, a Swedish electric vehicle company established by Volvo, has opened a new test-driving hub in Milton Keynes, following a pilot programme that it undertook in 2020.
The hub plans to offer over 7000 customers the opportunity to test drive and experience the Polestar 2, their new flagship model, in a curated and personalised way by the end of the year.
The new facility aims to supplement the firm’s London and Manchester spaces, as well as another new facility also planned for this year, which will enable an additional 28,000 customers to experience the new flagship sports car using eight vehicles exclusively for demonstration purposes.
CEO of Polestar UK Jonathan Goodman said “We saw such huge demand in 2020 for test drives, it was clear we needed to deliver more opportunity for consumers to experience our fully-electric Polestar 2 first-hand. But it had to be done in a high-quality way befitting the Polestar brand and be easy to book and access, and so Milton Keynes was an obvious choice. Excellent transport links, great test drive routes, and a reputation as the foremost technological centre of the UK ensure it’s the perfect location for us.”
The firm also hopes to run a series of semi-permanent facilities in various locations to help meet demand, in places such as Daventry, Cambridge and Harrogate over the summer, with more locations planned.
Other pop-up events are also planned for the firm to maximise the ease of test driving the cars, with many events supported by public charging firm Instavolt.
