Thames Tap partner REDA has lined up TV presenter Steph McGovern and F1 boss Ross Brawn to headline a major event in Reading to promote apprenticeships.

Steph (pictured) and Ross, who both started out as apprentices in their fields before going on to successful careers, will be available to speak to delegates at The Power of Apprenticeships event at Reading Town Hall on Wednesday, February 11.

The event, held during National Apprenticeship Week, is designed to showcase how apprenticeships bridge the gap between education and industry and drive fresh ideas and new capability into the local economy.

There will be a panel discussion, a Q&A and delegates can talk to local apprenticeship providers. REDA says both fans and professionals will have the chance to meet Ross Brawn and attend a book signing with Steph McGovern.

Nigel Horton-Baker, chief executive of REDA, said: “Apprenticeships are a vital driver of economic growth and a key component in Reading’s success as a hub for innovation.

“By bridging the gap between education and industry, they ensure our local businesses remain competitive and capable. Bringing world-class speakers to Reading Town Hall underscores our ambition to place Reading at the heart of the national conversation on skills and business development.”

UK Property Forums will be attending the event and encourages employers in the property industry to put forward their own rising stars for the Best Apprentice of the Year in BerksProp Awards (see image below from last year’s event where Aiden Simmons from Stuart Michael Associates and Georgia Fearn, Haslams Chartered Surveyors were joint winners).

More details of the awards (which culminate in November) will be published during 2026.

UKPF managing director Matthew Battle said: “In our industry apprenticeships are key to ensuring bright new talent comes into the property world so we very much back what REDA is doing. It has the power to benefit all industries.”

Tickets for The Power of Apprenticeships are £12.50 and are available to businesses, aspiring apprentices and the general public. Networking starts at 11.30am and the main event gets under way at 1pm.
