The London Borough of Richmond upon Thames (LBRuT) has published the findings from the Richmond Engagement Project.
Nearly 1,500 individuals participated in the survey, which will help deliver the vision for the Richmond Town Centre.
We Made That has produced a town centre study with their findings and recommendations. This report will create an ambitious vision for Richmond town centre.
The questions revealed several aspects of the respondents’ thoughts on Richmond, including the fact that only a few travel there by car.
In answer to how you travel to Richmond Town Centre, the response was as follows: 48 per cent walk, 21 per cent take the bus, 16 per cent cycle, 9 per cent use a car, and 6 per cent use the train.
Many people like to go to Richmond for eating and entertainment.
In answer to what is your main reason for visiting Richmond Town Centre? The responses were as follows: 88 per cent for eating or drinking out, 76 per cent for non-essential shopping, 61 per cent for essential shopping, 57 per cent for events and activities and 44 per cent for services.
When asked what their top three priorities were, the respondents replied that 65 per cent would increase/diversify the town’s retail and leisure offerings, 53 per cent would enhance the public spaces, and 49 per cent would protect the natural spaces.
Finally in response to the poorest aspects of the town centre, In first place: Traffic and air quality in the town centre, in second place: Variety of things for young people to do and in third place: Experience of walking and cycling in the town centre.
