Applications for two solar farms on land totalling 170 hectares in Hook have been approved – and many more are on their way.

Clearstone Energy’s plans, submitted by DLP Planning, are for a 95.47-hectare site at Chosley Farm in Bidden Road, North Warnborough (pictured), while JBM Solar Projects 18’s plans, submitted via Pegasus, are for another on 70 hectares at Bunkers Hill Farm, Reading Road, Rotherwick.

Hart District Council’s planning committee voted each scheme through at its meeting on Wednesday, November 10. Each scheme allows permission for 40 years.

Cllr Jane Worlock said many comments made during the debate applied to both schemes.

And she warned members: “We do have to bear in mind, not just what we need to do in respect of the climate emergency, but we also need to bear in mind what Hart’s policy should be.

“There is a significant number of applications coming to the area to be decided upon. And that does mean a very large area being covered with solar farms.”
