St Modwen Strategic Land is seeking to build an industrial scheme of 22,137 sq m in Basingstoke.
The development of two units is planned for the 11.2-acre site in Jays Close on the Viables Industrial Estate, known as the Sony Europe BV site. The Sony buildings would have to be cleared for the scheme.
Plans submitted to Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council seeks use classes E(g)(ii) (research & Development), E(g)(iii) (light industrial), B2 (general industrial) and B8 (warehouse/distribution) to include ancillary office accommodation).
There would be 121 parking spaces for one unit (Unit B42) and 145 for Unit B161.
The scheme is another in the regeneration of the park. Legal & General won approval in 2021 for an industrial development at a neighbouring site (formerly for Motorola) and Panattoni has already built out another scheme nearby.
The St Modwen scheme, planned by Vail Williams, was designed by UMC architects.
