The Ministry of Defence (MOD) and Huntingdonshire District Council signed a statement of intent on Thursday 11th December 2025 to develop a defence cluster for Huntingdonshire.
The statement codifies both the MOD’s and council’s commitment to developing Wyton Campus into ‘a nationally significant centre for defence intelligence and innovation that brings together Government, industry and academic partners’. The partnership will be facilitated by Project FAIRFAX.
The council and MOD support the redevelopment of the North Hunts Growth Cluster which seeks to deliver employment space, new homes and improved infrastructure.
Sarah Conboy, councillor and leader of Huntingdonshire District Council, said: “This is a pivotal moment for Huntingdonshire. By joining forces with the Ministry of Defence, we are unlocking new opportunities for innovation, skills, and economic growth.
“Our commitment is to ensure that the benefits of this defence cluster are felt across our communities – strengthening our local economy, supporting high-quality jobs, delivering necessary infrastructure and building a brighter future for all. Together, we are shaping Huntingdonshire as a place of national significance and local pride.”
It has been stated that all development will align with national and local strategies to provide long-term benefits in Huntingdonshire.
