Wandsworth Council has approved the installation of temporary structures adjacent to Battersea Power Station whilst phase six of the master plan is submitted.

The proposal is for the installation of temporary structures for five years comprising an indoor leisure and recreation facility and an exhibition hall, provision of a temporary structure for use as a cafe alongside a temporary sub-station and use of the existing shipping containers as toilet and changing facilities and a cafe in association with the indoor leisure and recreation facility as well as other associated and enabling works to include external landscaping, lighting, fencing, servicing and access arrangements.

The sports facilities would be Padel Courts for community use and public hire.

The committee chair asked if the planning officers had considered temporary affordable housing for the plot. The officer explained that they could only consider what is presented to them rather than create options for developers.
