Work to improve Theale station begins this Summer thanks to a £4 million grant from Thames Valley Berkshire LEP.
Better accessibility, a new footbridge, lifts, a new station building with step-free access, better toilets, an additional car park deck with space for bikes and motorbikes, new drop off area and better signage are included.
The project is expected to be completed by summer 2022.
As well as funding through the Local Growth Deal via the LEP, cash also came from Access for All.
Bob Mountain, vice chair of the Berkshire Local Transport Body and board director at Thames Valley Berkshire LEP, said: “Our investment through Government’s Local Growth Deal into this project will not only create a much better environment for passengers but will provide more attractive, safer and inclusive access.
“It will also improve the connectivity within Berkshire. It shows how Thames Valley Berkshire LEP acts a magnet for further investment and regeneration, by continuing to drive forward with our mission of sustainable economic growth.”
