Christie & Co, the business property adviser, has announced the sale of First Place Nurseries to Grandir UK. The trio of nurseries is located in Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire.

First Place Nurseries was established 20 years ago and provides day care for children aged from six months until they transition to school. The trio of nurseries is located in Bushey, Beaconsfield and Radlett. All nurseries have ‘Good’ Ofsted ratings.

The acquisition of the nurseries by Grandir UK brings the group’s total to 99 nurseries across England. Lydia Hopper, chief executive at Grandir UK, said: “First Place Nurseries shares our belief that high-quality early years provision starts with strong teams, trusted relationships and deep roots in the local community.

“By welcoming First Place nurseries into the group, we are bringing together our collective strengths to ensure we continue providing the very best for our children and families. Each nursery remains proudly itself, supported by the stability, expertise and investment that come from being part of Grandir UK.”

First Place Nurseries was sold for an undisclosed price.

David Eaves, director for childcare and education at Christie & Co, said: “It has been a privilege to support the sale of First Place Nurseries to Grandir. With the group celebrating their twentieth anniversary in 2005, this is the perfect time for Grandir to take the business forward and build on the fantastic legacy created by the former owners.

“With the existing Bushey and Beaconsfield nurseries being replaced by two brand new, purpose-built settings in the near future, it is an exciting time for the group under new ownership, and I’m certain that Grandir will take the group from strength to strength.

“Quality nursery settings across Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire remain in extremely high demand amongst a variety of operators, and we anticipate significant further activity in the area over the coming year.”
