Despite the trials and tribulations generated by the arrival of COVID-19 last February, judging for OxPropFest Awards 2020 was completed and although we had to postpone the awards ceremony in April at Keble College, the awards were presented to the Winners (and Runners Up!) at our virtual awards ceremony held in September 2020. Building upon this programme, we will be repeating this successful format for the OxPropFest Awards in 2021.

Award for Best Property Agent/Advisor

About this award:
This prestigious award will identify the company (nominees will work across the area of Oxfordshire and will be a property advisor/agent working in one or more of the following sectors: office, industrial, retail or housing) who can demonstrate that they have been active in the Oxfordshire marketplace. Evidence could include the number of deals closed, creation of new business opportunities and how they have met their business plan objectives during the 12 months of 2020. Alternative measures could include investment in sustainable approaches to business or adoption of creative ways which encourage growth and loyalty amongst employees. All submissions should reflect the scope and depth of your successes in Oxfordshire, using references from clients and other supporting evidence to help provide information for the Judges. Having an office in Oxfordshire is not essential for this award.

Award for Best Law Firm

This award will identify law firms operating in the built environment, construction and real estate sectors (nominees will work across the area of Oxfordshire in one or all of the following: office, industrial, retail and/or housing) who can demonstrate that they have been active in the Oxfordshire marketplace, closing deals, creating new business opportunities and have matched their business plan objectives during the 12 months of 2020. Alternative measures could include investment in sustainable approaches to business or adoption of creative ways which encourage growth and loyalty. Using references from clients and other supporting evidence, all submissions will need to reflect the scope and depth of your successes in Oxfordshire. Having an office in Oxfordshire is not essential for this award.

Award for Best Planning Consultancy

Planning activity across Oxfordshire is intense. As new developments come on stream and submitted, commercial developers and private clients are increasingly turning to planning consultants for advice and guidance. Planning consultants need to demonstrate in their submissions a clear strategy to answer the brief, a logical process to achieve planning permission and feedback from their client post submission. Alternative measures could include investment in sustainable approaches to business or adoption of creative ways which encourage growth and loyalty. Having an office in Oxfordshire is not essential for this award.

Award for Best Residential Development

New housing is an important part of Oxfordshire vision for growth. This award recognises a housing development (or developer) which manages to achieve the proverbial holy grail of matching the needs of the planners, the local community and help to fulfils the needs of Oxfordshire’s housing plans. Submissions need to showcase an approach to quality design, placemaking, materials and the procurement process helping to ensure the successful completion of the project. To be accepted, the project must have been completed or a section have been finished in 2020 and could include designs for Garden Towns or Urban Villages.

Award for Best Commercial Development (Industrial/Science/Office Sectors)

Office and industrial development activity across the whole of Oxfordshire has been strong. This award encourages submissions from development teams who have been involved with new projects in these sectors and can demonstrate that the buildings have matched the clients brief and are part of the Local Plan to generate new income for Oxfordshire. Attaching references from clients and other supporting evidence will always help the judges in their deliberations

Award for Best Interior (Cool & Funky) Space

Judges are looking for the creation of new space, which is designed to a high standard, generates a genuine change in workstyle for the occupiers, and becomes a catalyst for new ways of working, generating genuine innovation and successful growth of the businesses. Entries can include interior projects which are inspirational for the occupiers and have a high level of design. Attaching references from clients and other supporting evidence will always help the judges in their deliberations.

Award for Project of the Year

A special award for a special project. Entries for this award will showcase Oxfordshire’s finest new quality buildings which answer the client’s brief, and which become inspirational for the users and the wider community. Alternatively, it could include a new build project which has been constructed to a high-level of finish, design and procurement. Entries can come from across all sectors including the educational and retail sectors, which have both been past winners of this award. At the discretion of the judges, entries may also be submitted from other categories for this award.

Award for Most Innovative and Sustainable Initiative of the Year Award

Bicester Motion is very much part of this world and we want to identify an idea, product, service or person which reflects this spirit of innovation and brings a warm feeling to the market after the carnage of COVID-19.

Award for Young Property Person of the Year

About this award:
A celebration of a person under 35 who has showed leadership and is an inspiration to others around them. Submissions need to demonstrate, not only how the individual has become an integral part of the business, but also how they have shown responsibility beyond their age. Examples of successful project delivery may include evidence of success from their ‘clients’ in the form of references and case studies. This could include graduates, apprentices and junior members of the team who have recently joined the company.

Award for Property Leader of the Year

Nominations are encouraged from across the property sector from individuals who have been integral to the success of the Oxfordshire property market over a period of time and have not just been a one-hit wonder, so to speak. They must be able to demonstrate not only personal success in their business but also show evidence of helping to fulfil the goals and aspirations of their colleagues. For this award, a long list of submissions will be submitted to the Judges and the winner will be announced at the in the final presentation of the evening by the joint chair of the judges, Nigel Tipple and Matthew Battle.

Entry ticket will include an option to join us on one of the Walks. Options include to stay on site at Bicester Heritage or leaving the site on one of the coaches to visit Oxford City Centre or maybe a tour of Bicester including a visit to Westcott Venture Park. All tours are unique and include exclusive information and access passes.

Walk Two: Oxford City Centre – Tour of the proposed development sites in Oxford and overview of the key projects on site.

This exclusive tour will include a walking visit to the OxPropFest 2019 Project of the Year Winner, The Beecroft Building located opposite Keble College in Oxford. This will be followed by a tour of the OxPropFest 2020 Project of the Year Award Winner H B Allen Centre which was commissioned by Keble College and designed by MICA Architects.

Option 3: Bicester Magical Mystery Tour

Walk Three: Bicester Magical Mystery Tour – Visit to Bicester Village, Graven Hill and Westcott Venture Park.

This exclusive tour will take delegates by coach to this unique project which claims to be ‘the most exciting self and custom build community’ and was recently featured on the Channel 4 Grand Designs programme. The tour will be led by Adrian James Architects who have been involved with the project and have designed some of the houses.  The tour will include the rest of the Graven Hill development site and a visit to another award winning scheme located at Bicester.

TALKS

Using the voluminous space, which is Hanger 113, we will use the tables and staging to be used for the Awards in the evening as the location for the Talks. And over the past 12 months we have been talking with many people and are starting to develop our list of speakers and partners who are keen to engage with delegates and showcase their views.

Talk sessions are to be confirmed in early 2021 but we are looking at some of the following topics: Clusters; Future of the Office; Science & Industrial; Arc Watch; Retail Revolution; Housing; Transport and communications and Sustainability in Growth.

AWARDS

OxPropFest Awards 2021 is back for the fourth year, bigger and better. A Black Tie dinner which will be held in Hanger 113 at Bicester Heritage with a confirmed guest list of 300* but with the space to boost attendance to 500+. Our aim is to create a spectacular event which celebrates everything that is good about the Oxfordshire and The Arc property markets. Costs include a pre-dinner drink, three course meal, wine** and coffee and access to the Hanger 113 Bar afterwards.

*We have carried over the postponed bookings from 2020 at Keble College

**We shall allocate one bottle of red and white per table

Awards & Dinner

For the OxPropFest 2021 awards, we have freshened the awards programme and introduced some categories and also tighten up the existing format. Currently we have 10 awards to present which have been nominated by companies working across the county of Oxfordshire.

Music will be provided by the Oxford Pro Musica Singers and will include a choral introduction for guest as they arrive into Hanger 113 for the Awards Evening.
