Plans have been approved for up to 70 homes in Arborfield.
Wokingham Borough Council’s planning committee approved the outline plans by Croudace Homes, Vortal Homes and Falcon Developments (SE) to develop land to the north of School Road at Arborfield Cross at its July 9 meeting.
The scheme proposed for a 5.52-hectare agricultural site is a scaled down and revised version of a plan for up to 95 homes by the same applicants which was refused in December 2024 for 20 reasons, many relating to the lack of a s106 agreement. That scheme is currently at appeal.
Speaking on behalf of the applicants, Craig Pettit, senior planning director for Marrons, told the July 9 meeting: “Through our public consultation we heard from locals with ties to Arborfield Cross who were unable to live there due to availability and affordability.
“In fact planning records show no significant new homes have been delivered in Arborfield Cross since approximately the 1990s.
“Consequently there is little choice for local families, people starting out or wanting to move up or down the property ladder.”
At the same meeting Cala Homes’ full planning application to build 48 homes at nearby Hogwood Farm was approved.
