Wandsworth Council, working with London Square, is delivering 24 new council homes for social rent at Ransome’s Wharf near Battersea Park.

The homes include 1-, 2- and 3-bed properties within a major riverside regeneration scheme that will provide 118 homes across five buildings, set in landscaped gardens and high-quality public realm.

As part of the deal, 10 shared ownership homes are being converted into social rent council homes, increasing the number of affordable homes available to local families and helping more residents access secure, long-term accommodation at the lowest rent levels.

The project continues an established partnership between Homes for Wandsworth and London Square, which previously collaborated on supported living homes at the Wandsworth Common development. That scheme, part of the former Springfield University Hospital site, helps vulnerable adults live independently.

Cabinet member for housing, Aydin Dikerdem, said the Council is securing high-quality homes in a prime riverside location and ensuring regeneration benefits the community.

 He added that Homes for Wandsworth is using every available tool, including partnerships such as this one and the recent Battersea Power Station agreement, to tackle the housing crisis and build thriving neighbourhoods.

London Square CEO Adam Lawrence said the company has a long record of delivering affordable housing across London and welcomed the second collaboration with Homes for Wandsworth. He said the partnership has increased the number of social rent homes at Ransome’s Wharf and supports the Council’s ambitions.

The agreement forms part of Homes for Wandsworth’s wider programme, which aims to build more than 1,000 new homes by 2029 and help residents move from waiting lists into secure homes.
