Following a competitive tender process, Wandsworth Council has announced that it has appointed Hill Group to deliver 106 new council homes and landscaping upgrades to the Surrey Lane estate.
This sustainable housing scheme will include green roofs, air-source heat pumps, water-efficient fittings and electric vehicle charging points. There will be bicycle storage, car club membership and a new shared street with enhancements to existing public space – including new and improved children’s play spaces. Every home will have outdoor space provided by a balcony, communal garden or terrace.
Councillor Aydin Dikerdem, Cabinet Member for Housing at Wandsworth Council, said:
“This scheme is one of the largest the council has brought forward, and I am pleased that we have appointed Hill Group as our contractor for this project to look towards starting work on site.
“The scheme includes a variety of sustainable measures to make sure that this development is as green as possible, saving future residents on their bills, as well as encouraging the use of more sustainable transport methods.”
The site was awarded planning approval in May 2021 for three buildings ranging from four to six storeys.
Harvey Dhami, Deputy Regional Director at Hill Group, comments:
“We are looking forward to working in partnership with Wandsworth Council to deliver much-needed, high-quality new homes for the Borough. We will utilise our extensive experience to provide sustainable, energy-efficient properties that will improve people’s lives for generations to come.”
