Wandsworth Council is committed to building sustainable communities through strategic investments in new council homes and estate improvements.

The focus on value for money ensures these homes become lifelong assets, reducing reliance on costly temporary accommodation and saving £3.7 million annually. The council’s Housing Revenue Account is robust, allowing for ambitious regeneration and development while maintaining investment in existing homes.

A significant milestone was achieved with the completion of the 500th new council home, marking progress towards the goal of 1,000 new homes. Additionally, a partnership with Battersea Power Station will deliver 200 high-quality council homes, expanding affordable housing opportunities.

Aydin Dikerdem, cabinet member for housing, emphasises that investing in new council homes is crucial for addressing the housing crisis and strengthening communities. Each new home moves a family off the waiting list, providing secure housing and reducing long-term costs.

These initiatives demonstrate Wandsworth’s commitment to ensuring every resident has access to a safe, secure, and high-quality home, reflecting a strategic, long-term vision for the borough’s future.
