Willesden Leisure Centre has joined the Padel revolution and transformed disused space into two Padel Courts.

The application involves changing the use of land from a disused sports area to the erection of two Padel Tennis Courts. The proposed use is justified by the site’s location within an established Sports Centre and in a sustainable location.

Padel tennis is an increasingly popular sport worldwide. It’s popular because it’s easy to learn, fun, and a great way to socialize and meet new people. We covered another unusual Padel Court proposal in Wandsworth here.

Padel tennis has a wide variety of social and community benefits. It can help bring people together, build relationships, and provide an outlet for expressing themselves. It can also help improve physical and mental health, reduce stress, and increase self-confidence.

This application follows a previous planning application.  Several objections were raised, but most seemed to relate to the canopy.  In the re-submission, the canopy and the lighting posts have been removed.

Brent Council approved the proposal on September 11 2024.
