Councillors have been recommended to refuse permission for the proposed Great Wolf Lodge resort at Bicester.

Great Wolf Lodge’s proposed £200 million investment is for a water park resort with 498-room hotel on an 18.6-hectare site, which is nine holes of the existing 18-hole golf course at Bicester Hotel Golf and Spa.

Cherwell District Council’s planning committee meets on Thursday, March 12 where the plans will go before members but officers have recommended refusal on six counts. They  include loss of the 18-hole golf course, unsuitable roads, traffic, size, scale and massing, drainage and lack of acceptable s106 agreement.

Twelve parish councils and nine other groups have objected to the scheme and there are  820 letters of opposition from the public. The council has had 43 letters supporting the project.
