An outline planning application submitted by EDF, for the development of up to 281 new homes (Use Class C3) at their previous HQ, EDF Barnwood, Barnwood Way, has been validated by Gloucester City Council.
The homes would be delivered in a mix of houses and flats, alongside the homes there would be up to 8,000 sq metres of new employment floorspace, infrastructure, public open space, play areas, leisure facilities, landscaping and ecological mitigation features, and the demolition of some existing buildings whilst others are retained.
The site is comprised of approximately 10.31 hectares of previously developed land, split into two land parcels by Welveland Lane, used by the EDF before their departure in 2022.
The eastern parcel has vacant office buildings, as well as some smaller ancillary buildings and car parking, as well as a tennis court and bowling green. The western parcel is mostly made up of an asphalt parking area.
The proposal currently has a consultation period, which closes July 2.
