Plans have been submitted or the latest tranche of properties at the 10,000-home Chelmsford Garden Community in Essex.

Countryside and L&Q have submitted an outline planning application for a mixed-use development which includes 3,500 homes within three villages, a local centre, two small neighbourhood centres, three primary schools, one secondary school, and a nursery.

The plans allow for 130 hectares of open space, a nature park and sports facilities, as well as associated highway and transport infrastructure, and a network of walking and cycling routes. A masterplan for the scheme was approved earlier this year.

A total of 3,600 homes are being constructed in the first phase of the development. The latest phase aims to start in 2025 and construction will take place over 15 years.

Infrastructure in the scheme includes a new train station and the Chelmsford North East Bypass.
