570 flats planned to replace Reading office buildings

Plans for 570 BTR flats at Napier Court in Reading have been revealed in a scoping request from Peveril Securities.

The developer is seeking to redevelop the 1.2-hectare site which currently houses the three-building Napier Court office development in Napier Road which is gradually being emptied.

The developer’s scoping request to Reading Borough Council to determine whether and environmental impact assessment is needed, reveals a scheme of studio and one, two and three bedroom flats which will include a residents’ lounge, a gym, workspace, a cinema and a private dining and games area. The proposal also includes for a rooftop garden and terrace.

In addition it proposes 58 parking spaces and 283 cycle places.

Four buildings of 11 storeys each are planned and will be set back from the road in case of a future East Reading mass rapid transport scheme.

The team on the project includes CarneySweeney as planning consultant and 5plus architect.
