Plans for a solar farm of more than 80 hectares have been submitted to Peterborough City Council.

FRV Powertek has applied to put the solar panels on 80.4 hectares of agricultural land at Malice Farm, round 12.5km north-east of the city centre.

A total of 40 battery energy storage units and 10 medium voltage ‘skid’ containers (smaller and more flexible than shipping containers) will be arranged in a separate compound area in the centre of the solar farm.

The developer states in its environmental statement, produced by Lichfields, that the scheme has a proposed 40-year operational period and that the solar panels, battery energy storage units and ancillary equipment will be decommissioned, dismantled and removed after that period and the site restored to its current state.

As well as Lichfields, the project team includes Orion Heritage on heritage and archaeology and Greenwood Surveys on arboriculture.
