Outline planning permission has been granted for 80 new homes in Northstowe.
The homes will form part of the Northstowe extension, to the north of the development.
Permission for 1000 homes to be built by Homes England and 107 homes west of Station Road to be constructed by Endurance Estates has already been granted in this extension.
The latest application was originally due to include 106 homes, but the number was reduced during negotiations between South Cambridgeshire District Council’s planning officers and the applicant.
Three existing buildings on the site will be demolished, and a green corridor will run diagonally through the site and will include swales, a cycle path and a footpath, linking other Northstowe extension sites and the busway.
Cllr Sarah Cheung Johnson and Cllr Alex Maylon (both Lib Dem, Longstanton) objected at last week’s planning committee, raising concerns over flood risk.
Council officers explained that the responsible authorities for drainage were content with the plans and point out that conditions required surface water and foul water drainage plans to be approved by the council before work commenced.
The outline plans were unanimously approved.
