Plans for up to 90 homes, a 75-bed care home and employment space have been submitted to Swindon Borough Council.

The outline application by Hopkins Estates proposes development of a 6.78-hectare site which comprises two fields of grazing land off Lechlade Road, Highworth. It is next to a recently-completed Aldi supermarket.

One quarter of a hectare will be given to the employment space (use class E) while the 90 homes will include a 30 per cent proportion of affordable properties. There will be open space and landscaping.

An industrial scheme on the site was consented in June 2018 but permissions expired after little occupier interest was found.

The team on the Hopkins project includes Urban Design Box on architecture, Grassroots Planning as planning consultant and Vectos on transport planning.
