Carter Jonas has appointed Simon McConnell as head of its Oxford office, replacing Steven Sensecall who now leads the firm’s South and South West planning and development team.

Mr McConnell joined the property consultancy and UKPF partner in 2019 as head of residential in Oxford and has advised on some of the region’s most significant residential transactions.

He has more than 30 years’ experience in the industry and is governor of Christ’s Hospital of Abingdon, the oldest of Oxfordshire’s charities, where he helps oversee the organisation’s long-term priorities, including managing its property portfolio, the provision of almshouses and care and educational support.

In his new role Mr McConnell will work with the office’s 100-strong team to determine the direction of the firm’s business in Oxfordshire and the surrounding areas while forging initiatives in collaboration with the firm’s national network.

Mr McConnell said: “Our Oxford office has grown significantly under Steven’s leadership, and I look forward to working with him and the rest of the incredible team based in Mayfield House to continue to grow our business here.

“Oxford is one of our principal hubs outside of London, and our multi-disciplinary team is uniquely placed to advise and support clients on the wealth of opportunities in the region.”

Mr Sensecall said, since joining, Mr McConnell has become an integral member of the leadership team.

He added: “He is passionate about the built environment and a trusted adviser to clients as well as colleagues, and it is a pleasure to hand over to him.

“His energy, commitment to our sector, and understanding of the role we can all play in supporting Oxfordshire’s development will be invaluable as we embark on the next stage of our growth strategy.”
