Rainier Developments has applied to build up to 90 homes on land at Chipping Norton.

The housebuilder’s outline application to West Oxfordshire District Council shows plans to develop a 5.4-hectare agricultural field south of Banbury Road, next to Chipping Norton Cricket Club, for the homes, 40 per cent of which will be affordable.

A buffer zone has been created between the cricket field and the development as a result of a report commissioned to address the danger of cricket balls landing on the housing scheme.

Netting put up to protect a Bloor Homes scheme near the cricket club resulted in complaints of noise from the netting during high winds.

The team on the project includes Turley on planning, EDP on masterplanning, landscape, ecology and heritage and Jubb on transport, flood risk and drainage.
