Portal Way, the former Carphone Warehouse and LOVEFiLM International site is undergoing a major transformation following the purchase by Imperial College London from Crosstree Real Estate Partners in 2017. Planning permission has been given for a new Hotel replacing the original Holiday Inn and more.
From the proposals to Ealing council for the planning meeting on the planning meeting held on the 19th February 2020, the following was agreed:
The Holiday Inn, London West, 4 Portal Way Acton Ealing W3 6RT, the demolition of all existing buildings and structures on site and the mixed-use redevelopment of the site to provide two linked buildings of 45 and 55 storeys respectively, including up to 702 residential units, a hotel, flexible workspace, restaurant, flexible retail space, with a two-level basement, access, car and cycle parking.
At the same meeting the construction of an additional 10 storeys on Block A, 6 Portal Way comprising of 73 flats, bringing the total number on-site up to 701 flats.
Portal way which is close to North Acton Station and the A40 at Gypsey Corner is part of the Old Oak Common opportunity area. The site also falls within site allocation OIS1 Park Royal Southern Gateway as identified in the London Borough of Ealing’s Development sites which identifies the site as being suitable for mixed uses including residential and employment.
