Following an announcement in May 2019, Cambridge Airport will be redeveloped for new homes – and Marshall Aerospace would be moving to a new location.

The redevelopment of the airport is expected to be finished by 2030.

The Newmarket Road site will also feature around five million square feet of business and commercial space with new shops and a hotel set to open.

New businesses including Aldi, Lidl and an easyHotel, will be moving to Newmarket Road.

Land just north of Newmarket Road, near the Park and Ride, will be transformed into a gigantic new urban development called “The Wing”.

Initially, this was due to feature 12,000 new homes, but has since been downscaled to just 1,300. Planning permission was granted last August.

Work on the first 239 properties within the new “sustainable community” has been approved.

Other planned facilities previously announced are yet to be approved, such as a primary school for 400 children and a 52 place nursery.
