CALA Homes North Home Counties, with the assistance of Phase Two Planning, have secured planning permission for the development of 238 new homes and public open space from Braintree District Council in Kelvedon, Essex.
The development will be based on formerly agricultural land and will be a collection of one- and two-bedroom apartments, two-bedroom bungalows and some two-to-five-bedroom houses. There will be an affordable allocation of 40 per cent to meet local demand, split between shared ownerships and rentals, and the homes will all be built around a central green open space.
CALA will deliver two hectares of public open space with the scheme, including walkways, an orchard, and an ecological protection area. Following the section 106 agreement, financial contributions will be made to local facilities such as a community building, outdoor leisure, a play area, and education and healthcare provisions.

This development represents an ongoing investment by CALA in Essex, joining our current Audley Chase development in Earls Colne and upcoming scheme at Beaulieu. We look forward to starting construction work on-site in February 2021 with an aim to deliver the first homes next winter.”
The development is designed to appeal to a wide range of purchasers including first time buyers, growing families and downsizers, and even commuters, being close to Kelvedon train station, which has a direct line to Liverpool Street.
