Plans have been submitted to South Oxfordshire District Council for a major mixed-use scheme at Cholsey including up to 350 homes and up to 80 care units.

The scheme, proposed by Midlands-based Leavesley Group through planning consultancy Wardell Armstrong, also includes up to 3,000 sq m of employment space in one and two storey ‘barns’, up to 450 sq m of retail in a mixed-use block, a day nursery, community building and plots for custom and self-build housing.

The homes (40 per cent of them affordable) range from one-bedroom apartments to six-bedroom houses. The assisted living units in the care village will also be a mix of houses and flats.

Around 82 per cent of the 29-hectare site, which is in Papist Way off Reading Road, is described as the developable area while the remaining land will be public open space and green infrastructure including planting.

The land, known as Cholsey Fields, is owned by the developer.
