A winery will be created in Wiltshire after a successful application by Nexus Planning.
Nexus applied to Wiltshire Council on behalf of a Mr & Mrs Griffiths, owners of Carvers Hill Farm in Shalbourne, to replace existing buildings with a new one for making, storing and tasting wine.
Vines are already grown on the former grazing land and the winery is seen as a potential tourist attraction.
In its justification of the scheme, Nexus argued the replacement of the existing, dilapidated, agricultural buildings on the site with a bespoke winery building had the potential to significantly improve the appearance of the farmstead while retaining the rural character of the site.
Hywel James, principal planner at Nexus Planning, Reading, said: “We’re pleased to have been able to assist the landowners at Carvers Hill Farm in delivering a planning permission for this sustainable development, which we hope will facilitate an exciting farm diversification scheme as well as generate economic benefits for the local community.”
