Jaynic has completed the construction of a 840,000 sq ft warehouse unit in Suffolk Park, Bury St Edmunds, for Belgian logistics giant Weerts Group.
Occupiers of the shed include US footwear giant Sketchers, who will occupy 322,917 sq. ft of the premesis, with the potential to expand their footprint to 430,556 sq. ft and use the site as its central UK distribution hub for its retail stores.
Jason Newman, construction director of Jaynic said “This is one of the largest warehouse units ever built in East Anglia and despite the challenges of the pandemic we have been able to deliver it within a reasonable time frame.”
The Suffolk Park development is Jaynic’s largest to date, where it has now developed 1.4 million sq ft of space across four years, having received planning permission for 2.3 million sq ft of office, light industrial and warehouse space in 2017.
The park has attracted many companies, including NHS Supply Chain, MH Star, East of England NHS Ambulance Service, Sealey, Treatt plc and Hermes Parcelnet.
It is hoped that another 200,000 sq ft of warehouse space will be developed on the park and available by Q3 2022.
