Morgan Sindall subsidiary Muse Developments is in talks with the council about the future of Slough Urban Renewal (SUR) as the authority faces restructuring of its finances.

The joint venture between the two parties has delivered many of the town’s major schemes of the last decade including The Curve, the Moxy Hotel and flats development on the site of the former library, Arbor Park football stadium and The Centre revamp and is working on the Stoke Wharf scheme and the proposed development of the former Thames Valley University site.

A spokesperson for Muse Developments, said: “We are in continued discussions with our partners to understand what impact the council’s budget may have on the Slough Urban Renewal joint venture and its future. Since 2013, the partnership between Morgan Sindall and the council has successfully delivered much-needed affordable housing and a number of community amenities, such as schools, leisure and sporting facilities in the heart of Slough.

“The partnership has been in place for many years and has control over a number of key commercial sites within the borough, including North West Quadrant – the former Thames Valley University site.

“Slough is a fantastic town rich in history with a huge amount of potential, and we are committed to finding solutions to bring forward the pipeline of place-changing regeneration for the benefit of the community that will drive generational job creation and economic development.”

Cllr Pavitar Mann, deputy leader of Slough Borough Council and cabinet member for transport, planning & place, told Thames Tap: “The SUR joint venture has successfully delivered several high quality schemes within Slough since its inception in 2013, including provision of much needed affordable housing as well as flagship leisure facilities that all of Slough residents can be proud of.

“Whilst the council is responding to changing needs and budget requirements, we remain committed to delivering the priorities of our residents and continuing to improve the fabric of the town. As such, the council continues to work with its joint venture partner Muse and look forward to providing a further update on this in due course.”
